Biosolids

Biosolids

Biosolids are an environmentally friendly by-product of the wastewater treatment process. Biosolids are produced when the solid organic material in the wastewater is collected and treated. The recycling of this material is safe and is strictly controlled by state and federal regulations.

BiosolidsRecycling of Biosolids:

  • Provides nutrients to farmland when used as a fertilizer
  • Provide topsoil for recreational areas such as golf courses
  • Conserves space in landfills

GWA produces approximately 9,200 cu/yds. of  Biosolids annually, all of which are Land applied. To give some perception as to how much this volume of biosolids equates to, our annual production would fill an NFL football field to a height of about 4.3 feet.
