Part-Time Plant Laborer
The Glenbard Wastewater Authority is currently accepting applications for a part-time, entry-level, Plant Laborer position. The purpose of this position is to provide general labor assistance to maintenance and operations crews. Duties include performing various tasks at a wastewater treatment facility both indoors and outdoors. Training with vehicles/equipment and familiarization with department operations will be provided upon hire. All employees must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application, and must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates must also possess a valid Illinois driver’s license at the time of application. Work schedule: Monday through Friday; up to twenty (20) hours per week with flexible schedule from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. The starting base pay offered for this position is $21.36/hr with no fringe benefits. Part-Time Plant Operator
The Glenbard Wastewater Authority (GWA) is recruiting for one (1) part-time, entry level Plant Operator. Duties include, but are not limited to; plant operational duties; operator services at the GWA treatment facility and storm water treatment plant; light maintenance work as needed; and responsive, courteous and efficient service to the residents of the Villages of Lombard and Glen Ellyn and the general public. The Glenbard Wastewater Authority located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois is an agency formed in 1977 between the Villages of Lombard and Glen Ellyn via an intergovernmental agreement. Its mission is to operate and maintain municipal wastewater treatment facilities, protect public health, and protect the environment, for approximately 109,000 residents and businesses in the Lombard, Glen Ellyn, Valley View/Butterfield and Glen Ellyn Heights service areas.
The day-to-day operation of the facilities is overseen by the Authority’s Executive Director who is appointed and approved by the Executive Oversight Committee. A budget allotment of 18.8 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) highly qualified individuals are employed with the Authority, which operates 24 x 7.
Seventeen employees work full-time, while another five work part-time to cover weekends and Holidays. Eleven employees are certified by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency in wastewater treatment operations, and seven of those eleven employees hold Class I Operator certificates, the highest certification possible within the State of Illinois.
